General Information
This workshop is a junior-doctor oriented course, depending on practical approach and peer-to-peer learning with support from seniors. The candidates will go through stations that mimic the real-life interview format of their chosen speciality. And they will receive individual feedback on their performance.
This workshop was the 3rd SJDA-UK speciality interview workshop. Around 85 people were present on the day including 36 interviewers and speakers, 14 organisers all came from different cities in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
Specialities included: CMT, cardio, renal, respiratory, rheumatology, endocrinology, neurology, general surgery, orthopaedics, psychiatry, paediatrics, histopathology and intensive care medicine.

Registration Begins -12 Jan 09:00 AM
The day started with registration, each candidate received their own tailored candidate package depending on their speciality. Candidates portfolios were also collected to be checked by a senior doctor from their own speciality.
Morning talks & sessions
These talks gave a general introduction to the interview structure, communication & personal skills needed to succeed in the interviews. Candidates learned how to show commitment to speciality and how to present their academic achievements.
Speciality Briefing Sessions
Candidates from each speciality had a roundtable discussion with their examiners about the structure of their interview, general tips for the interview day and advice on how to best prepare for it.
Speciality mock interviews
Candidates practised for their interview under real exam conditions and received individualised feedback afterwards. We aim to cover most specialities medical & surgical specialities according to our candidates’ needs.
Portfolio feedback session
Candidates got one-to-one feedback on their portfolio. Candidates were asked to bring along their portfolios and they got verbal and written feedback from examiners in their speciality.
Group Feedback session & closure
All candidates and faculty gathered to reflect on what they learned during the day, interviewers got the chance to go over final tips & advice. All participants expressed their feedback on the day and sayed their final remarks.
